After our epic summer tour of gigs around the country and ‘Song Sisters’ songwriting workshops for women (to help increase the number of female songwriters from a meagre 13%), Kal Lavelle and I were asked to film our songwriting tips for the BBC as part of their huge educational Ten Pieces project.

Our songwriting tips were inspired by ‘Connect It’ by composer Anna Meredith – the only piece out of the ten by a woman, and one of the most experimental, exciting sounding pieces.

Hopefully this Ten Pieces project inspires a whole new generation of composers, including lots of girls inspired by brilliant Anna Meredith.
