My first single ‘The Machine’ (Ed Harcourt remix feat. Fem Fel) has just got Track Of The Day on Clash! You can stream it here!

And here’s their review:

One of the country’s most successful young songwriters, Fiona Bevan isn’t yet understood in her own right.

Yet the shy, retiring artist could be set to emerge blinking into the day. Bevan co-write (with Ed Sheeran, no less) One Direction’s global smash hit single ‘Little Things’, handing the boy-band a demo recorded whilst the pair were still teenagers.

A curious twist of fate rather than a career-defining moment, Fiona Bevan’s own work is rather more grittier, darker and more satisfying.

Long in the works, new single ‘The Machine’ allows this Hackney-based artist the space to assert her own identity. Rooted in folk, Fiona Bevan contrasts pastoral, acoustic textures with that voice and her golden, golden voice.

Somewhat unexpectedly, Ed Harcourt steps in on remix duties. Unexpected, in that the results push Bevan in an entirely new direction – yet one in keeping with the themes, the colours and tones of the original.

Adding in a ghostly half-step beat, Fem Fel is also on hand to supply guest vocals helping to maintain that atmosphere of menace.
